Larry Russell, Executive Director and Chief Information Officer, Celebrate Freedom Foundation

Larry Russell serves as Executive Director and Chief Information Officer.

Russell retired after a 35-year-career in the computer industry. Before retiring, he also served as Chief Information Officer for the State Transport Police, Department of Public Safety of S.C. Russell previously worked for the S.C. Farm Bureau, Policy Manual Systems, and the Department of Social Services of S.C.

He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and staff officer. He received the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, eighteen Air Medals, and other awards for exceptional service.

Russell participates in numerous civic and social organizations. He is President of the S.C. Chapter of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, and a life member of the 1st Cavalry Division Association and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association.

Russell founded the Palmetto Personal Computer Club, the Columbia Classic Chevy Club, and is past president of the S.C. Helicopter Association. 

He received his degree in computer science. A certified Network Systems Engineer, Russell holds certificates from IBM, Microsoft, HP, Compaq, Epson and 3Com.

He resides in Little Mountain, S.C., with his wife and stepson and is a member of the Chapin Baptist Church.
