Columbia, S.C.—The 2014 Celebrate Freedom Foundation Festival & Concert, featuring the S.C. Philharmonic, hosted a patriotic show to honor the U.S. Army Special Forces — the Green Berets — at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Music Director Morihiko Nakahara welcomed members of the U.S. Army Special Forces and others attending the performance with the Ballad of the Green Berets. A program of patriotic favorites followed — from the Americana of Francis Scott Key’s The Star Spangled Banner and John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever to John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen from the movie, Saving Private Ryan. The program concluded with a special rendition of the Ballad of the Green Berets. (See entire program here)
The 2014 CFF Festival & Concert was held the same
week that approximately 1,000 members of the U.S. Army’s
Special Forces attendied the U.S. Army Special
Forces Association’s 50th Annual Convention
in Columbia. The convention, much of which was open the
public, was held from June 9 to 15 at the Marriott
downtown and at Embassy Suites nearby on Greystone
Boulevard in Columbia.
